PRE-CLEASNING!

Hello! It's been awhile, but I am back, and here to talk about my very first JUICE CLEANSE! I have always been curious about cleansing and always wanted to do one but never actually put any effort into making it happen. Back in December my brother was talking about how bad his eating habits were and how he needed to do something about his diet and work on dropping a few. I suggested a juice cleanse and he was all about it. So for Christmas I bought him a gift certificate for one at Organic Avenue, one of my fav pre-made juice places in NYC. A few weeks later he was asking about which one he should do and as I was checking out their website, I noticed they had a 30% sale on their cleanses, so I figured, WHY NOT! One of the reasons I've probably held off on a cleanse is because they are so freaking expensive and it just doesn't make sense to me to drop so much $$$ to basically starve and be miserable. But I figured I would never find a better deal on a pre-made, delivered, non-pasteurized, cold-pressed, organic juice cleanse (those were all my pre-requisites), so I went for it and ordered  3 day cleanse, which came out to $126. They deliver free to Manhattan, but since I'm in Jersey I paid an extra $20 for delivery (2 deliveries actually, since they can't deliver more than 2 days of juice at a time because of spoilage). There was also an issue with my delivery (which I will get into in my next post) but because of that I got a refund on my shipping charge and one day of juice which came out to $62. So in total I only paid $84!!!

So since this post is about PRE cleansing, I just wanted to talk about how I prepared for my cleanse. I choose to do my cleanse Fri/Sat/Sun. Having never done one, I wasn't sure how my body would react and didn't want to risk being miserable at work. I figured if I was starving and miserable at least at home I could just get in bed and go to sleep. I also choose a weekend where I had nothing going on and wouldn't get a case of FOMO's (it actually ended up being Superbowl wknd, but I really could of cared less). It was also my first weekend after my yoga teacher training ended, so it was this first time in awhile where I had no responsibilities, things to do, places to be and I felt ready for a detox/fresh start.

My game plan for pre-cleansing was Mon/Tues eat super healthy/no junk/cut out all the "extras" and Wed/Thur eat only fruits/veg/soups and no dairy/fish/eggs/bread/caffeine. I also took a hot yoga class every night and I always drink 3 liters of water every day. If that isn't specific enough, here is exactly what I ate every day!

MONDAY
Bfast: coffee w.almond milk, oatmeal w.bee pollen and cinnamon
Lunch: ezekial toast with 1/2 an avocado and cherry tomatoes
Snacks: fruit/nut bar, 2 clementines, crackers w.natural peanut butter & honey
Din: 1/2 of a spaghetti squash (baked with olive oil) and a cup of veggie soup (complements of my momma)

TUESDAY
B: same as Mon
L: veggie soup and squash (last nights din leftovers)
S: fruit/nut bar, 4 rice cakes with apple and natural peanut butter
D: salad w.avocado, 1 stuffed mushroom (mom's cooking!)

WEDNESDAY
B: green tea (oops, caffeine), 2 clementines, apple w.peanut butter & honey
L: green juice (fresh from market), veggie/bean soup
S: 4 cacao pieces, piece of acorn squash (meant for lunch, but never ate it), goji berries
D: veggie/bean soup again

THURSDAY
B: apple w.PB, grapefruit, dandelion tea
L: beet/fruit juice (fresh from market), wheatgrass shot, more veggie/bean soup (my mom made a lot of it!)
S: 4 pc cacao, almonds, goji berries, probiotic water
D: broccoli, veggie burger (didn't want to eat something packaged, but I think my mom had made pasta that night which I didn't want to eat and was too tired to cook after coming home from yoga! these veg burgers are top notch though, see pic below)

I always try to eat organic as much as possible and the healthiest version of anything. So for example, my oatmeal for breakfast would never be Quakers, but is Nature's Path organic. Peanut butter would never be Skippy's, but a raw, natural type instead. Get it? Here are some photos of what was on my pre-cleanse menu:

mon & tues veg soup w.some squash thrown in

I always remember to take photos after i'm done! wed juice. how cool, the cups is made from plants!

drank the dandelion tea in mornings and detox tea throughout afternoons

yummy probiotic water!

i try to eat a handful of goji berries a day

i usually crave a little something sweet in the afternoons so i bought these to replace the usual chocolate or cookies...and they worked! they are soo yummy and 100% healthy superfood, i will def continue to use them as a "snack"

the yummy little cacao nibs

fresh beet/fruit juice...beets are great for detoxing
the veggie/bean soup that i ate 3 days in a row

my last meal before cleansing...and the hands down best packaged veggie burger i've ever had. you MUST try these!!!

So I hope this post is helpful if you are thinking about doing a cleanse! Check back soon for my thoughts on the actual cleanse!
